Field Trip with Professor Yamada
OBJECTIVE.
Field trip to the Diet
On July 7, 2023, the Japanese Politics course, led by Professor Yamada, organized a field trip to the Diet (Japan’s national parliament). Students from Bangladesh, Philippines, and Vietnam participated in the trip.
The Diet is a bicameral legislature, meaning that it has two chambers: the lower house and the upper house. This time, students visited the House of Councillors (the upper house), where they learned about Japan’s parliamentary system and its history, and observed the historic building constructed in 1936.

Field trip to the Ariake Incineration Plant
On January 23, 2024, students enrolled in the Public Administration course visited the Ariake Incineration Plant, located near the Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward, to deepen their understanding of how the government operates at the ground level and serves the population.
Tokyo’s 23 Special Wards jointly provide waste treatment services, with 22 incineration plants distributed throughout the wards.
The Ariake area, situated on the coastal side of Tokyo, has observed a substantial increase in the number of residents over the last 20 years following the construction of high-rise residential units.
The plant handles a large volume of waste every day, and students learned about how this essential public service is provided in urban areas.
